Honeymoon Day 6 – Magic Kingdom

Day 6

We decided to spend our last day at Disney World in the most Disney of all the parks, Magic Kingdom. Though we were a little slow to get up and moving (enjoying a morning of sleeping in), we eventually got to the park and quickly went to Tony’s Town Square to make a dinner reservation. After finding out that they were completely booked we tried guest relations, only to find that all the restaurants in the park were booked for dinner! In what became a great twist of fate, we ended up making a reservation at Kona Café at the Polynesian Resort, a short monorail ride from the park.

The weather was, as usual, very hot so we jumped the train to Mickey's Toontown Fair, where we walked through a few houses and then made our way to big thunder mountain railroad. Though the wait wasn’t that long, we grabbed a fast pass (after seeing that the 2 hour wait for splash mountain was way beyond our patience level) and went over to The Hall of Presidentsto take a picture for Jess’s stepdad and enjoy an air conditioned show. By the time we were finished we were able to cash in our fast passes and enjoy a fast and furious ride on thunder mountain (though Andrew got separated in line when he hung his head out a window to snap a picture of the ride).

After all that excitement we were pretty hungry and had some food at Pecos Bill's Café before heading over to future land, were Jess was determined to challenge Andrew to Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin! While we waited we also rode the Astro-orbiter (which made us both want to throw up) and Monster’s Inc. Laugh Floor (which was hilarious, especially the constant berating of one man in audience). Jess did emerge from Buzz Lightyear victorious, but Andrew looked much cooler in the picture we picked up afterwards.

We wrapped up our visit with a show at the Enchanted Tiki Room, which was adorable and a first for Jess as well, and then a ride on the Jungle Cruise. Andrew especially loved the bad jokes at the end of the ride….which we told each other over and over during the evening. We also found time to pick up a few presents to bring home for the family. Finally we headed off to catch the monorail for the Polynesian.

We arrived a little early and enjoyed a cocktail at the ‘Ohana bar before exploring the resort a little. The lush greenery in the lobby (complete with a waterfall!) was beautiful, as was the special shop that sold artwork. When we were finally seated for dinner we enjoyed the best service we had at the resort, by a waiter also named Andrew, and delicious island-themed food. Andrew especially enjoyed his sticky wings, while Jess thought her fish was fantastic. The special dessert from the kitchen ended an very wonderful day, and we slowly wandered back to our hotel to get some sleep before catching our flight the next morning, making a quick stop in our hotel store to choose a scrapbook kit to catalog all our memories.
