Honeymoon Day 3 – Spa and Downtown

Day 3

Today was, as we’ve been saying for a few weeks now, massage day! We slept in and, after grabbing a quick breakfast, headed out for our 11:00 spa appointment at Saratoga Springs Resort and Spa. What was supposed to be less than an hour took an hour and a half to grab a bus to downtown Disney and then get a connector to Saratoga Springs. The hotel immediately struck us as absolutely breathtaking, with pastel colored buildings and sprawling well-manicured grounds We ended up asking a few people for directions and then finally rushing into the spa at exactly 11.

As we were brought to separate locker rooms and handed robes and slippers we both were a little in awe of the whole experience already! Jess enjoyed a 50 minute hydro-massage first, while Andrew indulged in a traditional Swedish aromatherapy massage together in a private room. We were given a brief break where tea, fruit, and biscotti were set up at a table in the spa lounge (complete with a reserved for Jessica and Andrew card). Next we switched places and finished out the two hour session. Overall, it was a wonderful experience, very relaxing and fun. One of the massage therapists was even from Oneida, NY, which Jess found to be an especially fun coincidence.

After hopping the bus back to our hotel, we took a quick (and accidental) nap to re-energize for the evening in downtown Disney. We spent a little time shopping and strolling through downtown before making our reservation at Raglan Road restaurant and pub. Based on an old Irish pub, with bars that were even imported from Ireland, the restaurant was a lot of fun, from the Irish band to the creative menu. We ended the evening with a few hours on Pleasure Island. The Adventurers Club was silly and fun, with actors performing a skit about nominating someone the greatest adventurer! Andrew especially liked it here. The eclectic décor and fun-loving crowd really made for a great time. We then hit up a comedy club for a hilarious, but still relatively family friendly, improv show. The Shmeopardy and Tell us your most embarrassing moment (getting arrested at a strip club) skits had both of us clinging to our chairs with hysterical laughter. After a few dances at the 70’s themed dance club (think a giant screen with the original music videos) we were both laughing at the middle-aged couples who were totally showing us up on the songs from there era, and Andrew was busting a few moves of his own. Jess enjoyed a drink called Jessica’s Secret and was a little disappointed when we forgot to take a picture of her by the menu. We were finally worn out and headed back to the hotel. After a day filled with relaxation and fun, we’re looking forward to jumping back into the Disney park experience tomorrow!
