Chocolate Biscotti
Light and delicious dessert good for any time. My personal favorite biscotti, especially with coffee. AllRecipes.com
- 2 ½ cups flour
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 5 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup blanched (lightly toasted) slivered almonds (optional)
- Preheat oven to 350°
- Mix all ingredients but almonds in a bowl (the dough will be thick)
- Stir in almonds
- Lay half the dough in two 4 by 12-inch loaf on two cookie sheets
- Bake at 350° for 30 minutes
- Remove loaves from oven for about 20 minutes
- Reduce oven temperature to 325°
- Cut loaves into ½-inch slices and lay slices on side on cookie sheets
- Bake slices for 15 minutes at 325°
- Flip the slices and bake for 15 more minutes (they will be crisp)
- Cool the slices and serve room temperature
